We've been coming here for almost 30 years and seen it transform from an interesting ruin with a spectacular view to a rebuilt monastry of great beauty. The work has been done sympathetically with the small amount of original remains encompassed within the new build. Originally it was hard to imagine what it would have looked like and now you... The Monastery is almost at the top of a hill, but it's worth the detour. Note that there are several car parks, some closer to the Monastery than others.

I felt like I'm back in few centuries ago. The monastery is spectacular. I could imagine the daily life of missionaries there! Really worth to go!

We toured the Montserrat Monastery earlier on our trip and were over stampeded by tour buses, long lines, limited views of anything and crowded cafeterias. On the contrary, Monastery Sant Pere de Rodes was tranquil with few tourists, had an amazing view and you could actually tour the grounds inside and out. The architecture was beautiful and we had a... More

The drive up to the monastery takes some skill, but it is worth it. The monastery is 11-13th century and occupies a stunning site overlookng the sea. It is open continuously in the summer so you don't have to worry about arriving and finding it closed for lunch. Well worth a visit.

Perched high on a hill, skilfully restored in places, wonderful views and great feeling - God gets the best locations.

A beautiful monestery in a wonderful place. Restored not so long ago, offers the visitor a great example of a medieval monastery.

Came across this place whilst walking without initially realising its historical significance - in the end spent an enjoyable and interesting couple of hours here. Useful information available in English. Some of the stairways are steep and narrow and need to mind your head. Worth visiting the nearby medieval village too.

Can't beat ruins above a beach for combining culture and fun. The ride along the curving, twisting road is also a fun experience, best done in a car with power steering!

in my opinion, this abandoned monastery is not very interesting in itself as -although reconstructed to its detail in what concerns to walls, roofs, etc, there is not even one remaining painting or object from those years, plus the fact that there are no monks for at least 200 years and it is no more sacre (now, only a museum),...
