An extensive site, half of which is on relatively flat ground and the other half a meandering, and sometimes quite vertiginous, winding path up a steep hillside. A comprehensive variety of Canarian flora on display but not displayed in a 'garden' setting as some may expect. This is a botanical garden for research purposes but also attractive in it's own... If you like botanic gardens, you'll love this one, especially for its range of local flora and the imaginative way it is set out on a site much of which - but by no means all - is steep. It's a bit out of the way, but once you're there there's lots for any plant enthusiast to enjoy. We only... More

The garden is just 10-15 minutes drive from las Palmas and is a great time-out. We began at the top level of the garden, first enjoying the views of the green ravine, then descending through the greenery on stove-paved paths. On the way down you pass the gorgeous Dragon Blood Trees. In the bottom of the ravine the park expands... More

An amazing variety species of trees and plant life that grow on the islands are featured in the botanical gardens. Well laid out with paths covering the whole area which is quite extensive and in some parts rather hilly so restrictive for anyone less mobile than normal. Great shame that there was no brochure or leaflet explaining what was on... More

My wife had seen this on the television but didn't make a note of the name , you don't see the gardens on normal 'reps' excursions so you have to make your own way . We were very lucky to be friendly with a restaurant waiter who took us from puerto rico (where we were staying) to the Jardin Canario... More

We are fascinated by nature so were keen to visit this botanical garden and find out more about the plants of the Canaries. We were not disappointed as it was our kind of place - a bit untidy (as nature is) and peaceful - not too many people. However - it could do with a bit of marketing help. I... More

This was a lovely half-day trip from Las Palmas. We got the 301 bus from Santa Catalina (the blue Global bus, not the yellow urban type; you can also go from the main Guagua station in the old town), and it drops you off near the top entrance to the gardens. There's a little restaurant there (untried). Then there are... More

What a display; in the natural setting of a ravine. Enjoy the sound of birds in this paradise. The restaurant/cafe on top has a beautiful view over the gardens.

The Canary Islands are thought to be the Galapagos Islands of plant life. In February the native Echium are in full bloom as well as Limonium and Asteriscus. The cactus & succulent garden is one of the best collections I've experienced.

Do not miss this one. Speaking of nature wonders of Gran Canaria I would put this park into top 3 sights together with Dune of Maspalomas and Roque Nublo. Speaking about specifics such an impression comes from multiple parts - park complexity and landscape, richness and variety of cultures (cacti part was just a wow even for me who is... More
