So glad to have visited this museum. Not only does it educate and explain what happened historically in Gernika, but provokes its visitors to contemplate what is peace, what does it mean for who and what, how is it created, maintained and what impact peace does and can have.

İt is one of the landmarks in the history of humanity. What happened in the past was not very pleasant and we should try our best not to repeat it again. This museum is one of the place you remember your past with sorrow. Every grown up should know what happened in the past so it will not be repeated. The... More

Off the beaten path, this museum is extremely well put together, comprehensive and worth your time. It's an extremely pertinent museum in this day and age!

We took the train (every 30 minutes from itxuri station in bilbao's old town) and meandered for a pleasant 45 minutes through the countryside. The tourist office which is opposite the peace museum has exceptionally helpful staff as has the museum itself. We were given an English translation of all the item descriptions and the audiovisual presentations are given in... More

This museum is a place where the concept of Peace is displayed in many angles. Altough the general spirit is towards the reconciliation , which I personally found exagerated , it is a highgly recomended place to see to learn history and why atrocities cannot remain impunes. For adults and childrens , it is a educational tool towards the need... More

I am an American of Basque descent and heard of the atrocities of Guernica from my father growing up in the USA. I went to Guernica years ago before the museum was built and although moving, it did not have the same impact as our last trip this past February when I took my son. My father is long gone... More

We visited the Gernika Peace Museum on the weekend of a festival to mark the 75th Anniversary of the events of 1937. The contrast between the music and dance of the talented Basque performers who had taken over the streets and the quiet reflection that I experienced inside this museum could not have been greater. The museum staff were excellent... More
