This is a worthwhile building to see. We were very lucky to be there early so we didn't have the crowds. We didn't have time to stay for the English tour so we just did it ourselves. There is enough information in English that you can do it yourself by just reading. But don't miss the gardens surrounding it. Very... More

I really enjoyed the guided tour of this residence. The interiors are amazing! I only had a quick look in the garden as it was raining heavily during my visit. They looked like a wonderful place to sit or walk around in the right weather conditions.

In the last five weeks I have seen a lot of palaces and this one is certainly in the top league. The gardens are enjoyable to walk through. Some if the rooms will make your jaw drop. Don't miss the chapel. Be ready to get a sore neck staring at the frescos on the ceiling. Well worth the €7.5. You... More

After going to Neuschwanstein, my girlfriend was in awe of the decorations and richness, so I decided I needed to show her some Roccocco to really blow her away. Wurzburg Residenz is up there with Versailles and some of the other biggies and did not disappoint. Be sure to check out the chapel as I think it was the most... More

The Residenz is a beautiful palace with an amazing collection of frescos. We visited Würzburg on a rainy day, so it was a perfect activity being all indoors. There are English tours available; we made the 11:00 am tour but there are also two in the afternoon. Their website is in English and has the times of the tours depending... More

The magnificent Baroque palaces and the manicured gardens are very impressive. Very famous staircases spans its vault vast atrium without pillars. Venetian painter Tiepolo decorated the vault with a fresco, the largest in the world, showing paintings of the four continents: Europe, America, Asia and Africa. There are many guided tour of German, but English ones are less. You should... More

The combination of Tiepolo's art and Neumann's architecture makes the Residenz in Wurzburg one of THE most important, and joyfully glorious, buildings in Germany.

This amazing building is made even more memorable when you learn that the efforts of one US Army officer probably preserved this palace after Wurzburg was firebombed near the end of WW2. An amazing restoration has left it in all of its splendor, with priceless art also restored. If you can, come for the wine festival in the beautiful gardens,... More

Definitely worth a visit. Skip the guided tour and buy the booklet. Be there when it opens and get the whole place to yourself. With the booklet you'll get a much better experience than a crowded your. The photo policy was not enforced on our visit so don't feel guilty about it.
