A very pretty little town completely surrounded by a perfectly preserved city wall with several towers and portico-covered walkways. Little cobble-stoned streets, lovely main square with fountain, town hall and performing clock tower. Huge Christmas decoration shop that went on for miles. A teddy bear museum. Lots of cafes and food shops. We tried the traditional snowball pastries and the... More

Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a quaint township which looks just like a German township in a model railway setting should look like. It is overrun with tourists, mostly American and Japanese. It has well preserved city walls and towers. It is a pleasant side-stop between Nurnberg (Nuremberg) and Stuttgart but not much more. It has cutesy shops selling Christmas... More

This town is really a well preserved and nice medieval town to walk and go around. Friendly staff on the shops and they take the time to understand the poor German that I speak, otherwise they will speak English. More

A lovely walled town to spend an afternoon wandering around. Stop for a coffee or icecream at a roadside cafe and watch the world go by. More

One of the prettiest places I've ever been. The old town square has a lovely church and tower to climb where you can see terrific views of the whole town and surrounding countryside. There are also a variety of shops and cafes to explore and enjoy. More

Just about everything in this walled town brings you to stop and look. The place is just packed full of history, it is unique in Germany, and definitely worth a visit! I've travelled to this town 8 or 9 times, at different times of the year, spread over the past 15 years or so...there's always something new to see, that... More

One of the best medieval old towns on the Romantic Road. Very Picturesque. Highly recommended. One of my favorite small towns in Germany. Worth staying 2 nights. More

It would be difficult to find somewhere in this town that isn't picturesque. Wonderful place, perhaps even more so in the winter months. More
