Do not miss the wonderful paintings in the Old Pinakothek. Paintings galore! Even if you are not the artistic type, you are bound to fall in love with many paintings.
Thank goodness we went there. I have been in the big galeries in Florence, Madrid and Paris. This was the first time that I appreciated that Ruebens was a fantastic technician but his subject matter would classifiy him as a psycopath.
We decided to go to this museum as an after thought because we had a few hours to kill. I loved the bright and airy layout, the art was a feast of amazement! I visted twice and can't wait to go again
Brueghel show was wonderful. Also, a very fine permanent collection. Museum is broken down into a number of different buildings. We hope to visit the others on future visits.
The building is amazing. There is a main staircase and it is huge. The art however, is too religious for my liking. Its 1 euro on a Sunday though.
I could have spent a lot longer here. Didn't expect this much good stuff in one place. Especially the Italian and Spanish painting. Very nice. Worth the walk.
The Pinakothek has one of Da Vinci's madonnas. It also has a glorious Raphael of the holy family, with the pyramidal construction that Da Vinci introduced in his St Anne and the Virgin (in the Louvre). The colours are amazingly vibrant and it's worth making the trip to the museum for this reason alone. But that's far from all there...
