Alpspitz is a perfect escape from a hectic life. They have beautiful wooden chairs with perfect views. I could stay up there for ever.

Sure, going to the top of the Zugspitz would be awesome, but so would not having to spend 50 euros to do it and then coming right back down! Nice gondola ride to the top and easy walk/hike to the observation platform. Phenomenal photo ops of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Edelweiss resort. Can't wait to come back and ski this mountain!

Fantastic days walking on the Alpspitze summit near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Took the cable car from Kreuzeck-Alpspitz station on the Zugsoitzbahn to the Kreuzeck summit station Then walked across to the Hochalm Gasthhof area and then up to the Ostfelderkopf summit station. Highly recommend buying the Garmisch Classic ticket ($32 at Eidelweiss Lodge) and taking the Alpspitzbahn gondola to the top.
