Go for a hike to the Grabkapelle. It worth year around. You will have fantastic views over Stuttgart, the Neckar valley and the vineyards from up there. Park the car down in Untertuerckheim and hike up through the vineyards on well maintained little roads or stairs for little shortcuts.

This is one of the oldest churches in the area. It was badly damaged during World war II. They have done a great job restoring it, beautifully weaving together new architectural elements with the old ones.

It is situated above a small village in the wineyards and offeers a great view over the valley. But it closes quite early in the afternoon.

The chapel itself is nothing special, to be honest, especially if you've seen a lot of churches and cathedrals already. The reason to go up here is the view. It is in the middle of the vineyards, and you can see much of Stuttgart spread out below. Take the UBahn to Untertuerkheim, then bus 61 to get up to Rotenberg....

simple, yet elegant design, nicely located, incredible dome. pay the 2 euro to go inside - it is worth it, there is a crypt underneath the main floor. the dome is stunnng to look at from the interior.
