Get there on a Saturday for the Munsterplatz market. Make sure you are hungry as you have to have a wurst sausage lunch. Plus, tons of local foods to pick up for later or eat there. Many fruit and vegetable stands. Right now is spargel season!

Take a guided tour, or at least get some information. It's what you learn about the cathedral's history that makes it interesting. The market fills the Munsterplatz to overflowing on Saturdays, with hot food to eat, and a range of local produce to die for. There's also a great atmosphere, with lots of local people milling about selecting produce. As good a market experience as Florence or Barcelona.

Everything here is so colorful. The foods, produce, textiles, and the different woods that are carved into bowls, brushes, plates and more all add to the ambiance. There is a lot of hustle and bustle which makes it fun to meander around and try the wursts that different vendors are selling.

We walked into Munsterplatz (the plaza where the cathedral is) from Conrad-Grober Street and passed these absolutely hilarious fountains that spouted into the circular drains below. So very funny and quite a surprise! I suppose it prepared us for the amusing drainage spouts and gargoyles of the cathedral.

It is pedestrian only. I visited on Friday and Saturday during market hours. Fresh flowers, plants, foods, fruits, veggies, jams, honey, etc were available. The Market was efficiently organized and packed with locals and tourists alike. Persons were dressed in costumes for pictures (for a tip) and there was free live music (you were expected to tip).
