My 11 year old daughter and I spent a delightful 5 hours in this museum today and would highly recommend to art and history lovers alike. The museum itself is a 17th century former Benedictine abbey with a pretty central courtyard surrounded by a cloister. The courtyard houses sculptures including Rodin. Another part of the museum is a former church... More

The Musee des Beau-Arts in Lyon was a lovely surprise, it is housed in a former Benedictine abbey dating from the 17th century. There are 70 exhibition rooms, entrance costs 7 euro and comes with a free audio guide. On the lower floor housed in the chapel, is the sculpture gallery, there is a wonderful collection of sculptures, including Rodin... More

The Musee des Beaux Arts is a well-organized and nicely laid-out museum in a gorgeous building. Not to be missed is the bedroom that Hector Guimard designed for himself. You can really see the delightful art nouveau style that he used in the Paris metro signage in his own furniture! Lovely courtyard in the center of the museum that you... More

This art museum was set up to be enjoyed by having seating in almost every room. We were given audio instruments, free of charge, We were able to sit in front of the paintings and listen to the descriptions which makes the visit so much more interesting. They have a wonderful selection of art which we enjoyed thoroughly. The personnel... More

Very broad collection but not as deep as the Met in Ny or the Louve in Paris but the again it is quiet, not rushed and they have many excellent pieces by the master's. it is worth a visit. More

We spent the day in Lyon with the family (kids 10 and 12) and truly enjoyed our museum visit. The audioguides are free once you pay admission and well done. There is not one specifically for children but they could pick and choose what to hear more about. The English guide has several different voices, which breaks up the monotony.... More

Very pleasant setting, close to the Hotel de Ville. Many exhibits, mostly limited in size which is good for a visitor like me whose eyes glaze over after a museum visit of more than an hour or so. More

I've been to this museum twice now and on both occasions have enjoyed my visits. There is plenty to see and the museum is well laid out. They have a very good cafeteria as well that serves an excellent range of food and drinks. There are paintings and works of art dating from the 13th Century up until the 20th... More

An ace museum, along with the Fabric Museum. Very strong collection of 18-19th century painting. A useful audio guide, with several langauges to choose from, is included in the ticket price. Their restaurant has quite a serious menu. And all the staff are charming, only too willing to show you something interesting that you might have missed. More
