An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on. « less

This property has spectacular views and its gardens are monumental. Going to the South of France or Monaco the tour lasts a period of the day and is very beautiful. When you are in the property is imagining the commitment that had to create a perfect vegetable rug. The way through the mountains and access to the property is another... More

If you are in the vicinities of Villefranche, Beaulieu, or St. Jean-Cap-Ferrat, then a visit to the Villa Ephrussi is definitely worthwhile, if only to get a sense of the extravagant spending that was afforded by one spoiled and over-privileged lady. The villa stands enviably on one of the most strategic locations on the Riviera, with panoramic views in every... More

Judging from the rave reviews, expected a really immaculate estate and gardens. The villa is in need of some touch ups all around and the gardens could have been more manicured. All in all I did not get the sense that the management took pride in the running of the estate. The views however are incredible and on a sunny... More

If you are already in the area and looking for something to do, the villa is a nice diversion, but I would not say it warranted a special trip. Mrs. Rosthchild had more money than taste, and her villa is already falling apart after less than a century. So much for quality. She loved flash and Louis XV style, and... More

I went here with my mother for a day trip and it was fabulous. The house is amazing and the gardens are wonderful to walk through as they have lots of very varied sections. They do fountain shows to music which are enjoyable to watch.

Your chance to experience the Belle Epoque on the Riviera. This beautifully maintained estate sits high on the ridge with views east and west. The gardens are wonderful and extensive. Music playing with the fountains in the French garden was delightful, but all of the other themed-gardens are great too. Allow lots of time for both house and garden. We... More

Staying in Nice, France, this is a place you have to experience. Created and build by Ephrussi de Rothschild in the early nineteenth century. A beautyfull building and a lovely garden telling an amazing adventure of a most interesting woman. The villa is filled with antiques. Some totally uniqui. E.g. a carpet from Versailles. In the garden a.o. there is... More
