Through the art dealers and experts she befriended, Baroness Ephrussi de Rothschild sought out artworks all over the world, transforming the Villa at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat into a collector's paradise. Between sea and sky, overlooking the bay of Villefranche, the nine heavenly gardens are adorned with patios, fountains, ponds, flowered and shaded paths. The Villa is also a place for wedding and receptions organization. « less

A delicious lunch on the terrace, followed by a tour of the garden and finally the villa itself. The villa gives a fascinating insight to the life of a woman who (due to her wealth) had no need to court opinion from anyone and lived the life she wanted. A lovely day because the villa was easily accessible from Nice;... More

Great location, affording panoramic views from each room of the Villa. Entance fee is 12 Euros , worthwhile. definitely worth it, however, word of caution is around parking, especially if you drive a larger car. We had a pretty large vehicle and it was somewhat challenging to park. More

This is a must see if you are in this area, the villa and gardens are stunning, we spent about four hours there, and enjoyed a nice lunch. We were staying in Menton and took the local bus for 1 euro. We also enjoyed the lovely walk that goes round the St Jean Cap Ferrat peninsula, it was a great... More

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is located only 10 km from Nice (or even 6 km if you measure from Parc Municipal!), so it's really pitty to miss it. It's very easy to get there, hence parking place just near Villa isn't the largest one, still doable even with large car. Must see are both: villa and garden. First of all:... More

It is tough to grow luxurious gardens in the South of France but great effort has been made here. Certainly worth seeing the variety of different gardens on this one hillside. The Villa itself may have Ephrussi's belongings but during her lifetime they were not gathered in this one building, so this was not actually how she lived. Interesting gilt... More

We visited this wonderful home in late March and were pleasantly surprised to find the gardens in full spring bloom. Located on a peninsula between Nice and Monaco, this area is surrounded by the azure color of the Mediterranean. The house is interesting though work on the site with cranes everywhere obscured the view at times. The gardens were the... More

The sort of house and garden you would create if money were no object, as indeed they weren't. I go for the gardens. The house is beautiful (except the cafe which is amazingly average) but the gardens are absolutely stunning. You wander from one themed paradise to the next, open-mouthed at the views of the sea and the boats. Unmissable... More

When visiting the French Riviera, make sure to include Villa Ephrussi as a vital part of your itinerary. The villa itself is beautiful, with views to die for; however, the gardens would charm anyone - even those without a passion or interest in horticulture. Just the experience alone is enchanting. A stroll along the gardens is very calming and soothing,... More
