A beautiful building and garden but I would have preferred it if there was a little English on the description of features so I could have had a better understanding of what I was looking at rather than having to guess from the names, dates and few words that I recognised. Entry is free but you need to go to... More

Nice, worth seeing especially for the lovers of the Napoleonic area. Recently restored access is free of charge and closing day is tuesday. This place was build by the grandson of André Massena, prince d'Essling, one of emperor Napoléons marchals. The groundfloor is nicely restored recently and has some nice "empire" style furniture. On the first floor dont miss the famous... More

Wonderful museum, although I couldn't read the explanations of the paintings too well, it was very much worth seeing! More

There is a wide range of paintings from early Renaissance to modern. Entry is free, but why when we entered were we directed to the shop, across the gardens, to get tickets, just to tell the person behind the counter that we were British, and then have to walk back to just to hand over free tickets? This museum was just down the street from where we stayed so it was an easy choice to explore. It proved to be a very pleasant surprise. It contains a rather eclectic array of paintings and other objects depicting the history of the area. In particular, I loved the collection of posters advertising Nice and its casinos and night life... More

From the Square Massena we walked along the pedestrian Rue de France to the museum. Besides the paintings and the belongings to Massena and Napoleon, we particularly loved the 19th century posters of Nice that show the dolce vita of the city in that time. More
