We expected a bit more of nature when we arrived. Altogether a nice experience but can be a bit dull.

Saw flying flamingoes, black bulls, camargue horses and picnicked next to L'Etang de Vaccares. Could not get over the size and atmosphere of the place.
Also visited some fabulous places just outside Bouches du Rhone but cannot find out how to report on them.

Went on a horse drawn tour which unfortunately was conducted in French only (worth checking when you book if you speak no French). Still enjoyed it and saw the white horses etc

Maybe temper your expectations, but its very close to Arles, and its well worth a visit on a beautiful day to see wild bulls and flamingos. Incredible sights if you enjoy wildlife.

If you come here expecting to see white horses dashing wildly across the dunes, and great black bulls with lowered horns ready to charge from every field, forget it. Bull and horse graze peacefully, often side by side, in this flat marsh of infinite horizon and luminous sky that sheds a light like no other. You will see elegant herons...

The tourist guides are true!! As you drive around, you see white horses, black bulls, and flamingoes. It all feels very different. St Marie les Saintes is nice, even better is Aigues-Mortes, a C13th town built for emabrking crusaders and with its1.6 miles of walls intact, a superb walk although, not surprisingly, a mecca for tourists - there are advantages...
