A small museum with beautiful finds . It shows how and where Romans lived in the area. Archeological searches are still going on , on the bottom of the river. Some wauwwwww pieces in very good condition.

Since I also have a residence in Arles, this is a museum I often go to. It is not that big but it is an evolving museum with frequent additions due to the ongoing archaeological finds mostly in the nearby Rhone River.
This is a brand new building. Not only does it contain a museum, but most important there is...

We walked to the museum from town, but it is a bit of a hike. This interpretive center is well laid out, well thought through, and well situated near the Rhone River. Definitely go early in your stay at Arles. (We love this town.) Best to pack a lunch and take advantage of the park-like grounds along the river.

Helpful first stop as suggested by Rick Steves. Nice mosaics, fabulous sarcophagi.

This museum is outside the old town area. It has a very good collection of ancient artefacts for those who are interested in such things, though if you do not have a particular interest you may find it a bit dry.

Don't listen to the poor reviews we loved our visit. It was just outside the city. We walked along the Rhone River about 2 miles to the museum. We were impressed with all the Roman ruins the museum had. It took about an hour to see everything.

The statues from the old Roman theatre are fantastic, also the mosaic floors. Spacious museum, easy to walk around. Also really interesting are the lead pipes, the model of barbegal mill and ingots of lead.

I went on a hot summer's day and found the museum almost empty. It's hard to understand, given the attractive modern building and interesting displays, including some great models. It was a bit disappointing that much of the information was only available in French and there was no audio guide. However, the artefacts are well displayed and presented logically. There...

Out of the historic center and a bit disappointing, since the place is really small, it took us about 15 minutes to see everything, even if the exposition is really interesting. Clearly, the museum lacks items to show, those presumably were taken from Arles to other places. The most interesting are Roman floor mosaics, very beautiful.

With the number of English speaking tourists who visit the area each year, you would think that there would be a description of the exhibits in English. If you don't read up on what the museum has to offer before leaving for your visit, you are very much left in the dark.
There is one very small brochure that has...
