If you see this, bring a good camera to capture the beauty of this light show. I liked the one from the back of the Cathédrale St-Julien more than the one at the front.

In July and August (please check exact dates) after 9.00pm, Le Mans hosts a fabulous free son et lumiere (sound and light) show on its historic Plantagenet walls. Wander around with the locals and marvel at the ever-changing parade of mythological beasts projected on the ramparts. An absolute must.

Impossible to describe. We went in December and suspect we might not have seen some of the sites (only in Summer perhaps), but the Cathedral Fountain steps and above all medieval Angel musicians on the West Facade were wonderful.

I have seen many sound and light shows, from Blois castle to Egypt and the Parthenon but the sound and light production of Le Mans tops them all. Five nights a week, from end of June until end of August, and the first three weekends in September, the old Plantagenet city of Le Mans shines with a myriad of shapes...
