This site is perched on a cliff jutting out into the English Channel, covered in bomb craters and old blockhouses and gives a real impression of the chaos of war. The story of how the rangers assaulted this position on D-Day is fascinating - the defenders hadn't even considered the audaciousness of a cliff scaling operation. It also highlights the... More

This is a not-to-miss site if you're going a Normandy tour. The site is entirely covered with bomb and shell craters and remnants of the bunkers. Really cool site and well worth the effort to see. More

Been here a few times over the years on solo and coach trips. Well worth a visit - take your time and look around, especially at the cliffs, bunkers, gun emplacements and the view out to sea. Some good interpretation at the start but lacking the more you get onto the site. However, just take it all in especially when... More

Between the history of the Point coupled with the first hand viewing of the mass destruction of the bombing, and couple that together with the entertainment value of the location for kids, this place is a win for all ages. My kids ages 2 & 4 had so much fun running in and out of the craters while we enjoyed... More

You could almost see the soldiers and the airplanes bombing the field in Pointe du Hoc. WW2 memorial was impressive to see and feel. More

A visitors' centre opens in high season and Friday to Sunday off season. It was closed when I visited. The site benefits from brief information on the raid. However it could do so much more. Once you're in the location of the bunkers it really is left to your imagination. The site, I assume, hasn't been disturbed since WWII. The... More

This is the American beach that was critical to the success of DDay. Guns and bunkers, barb wire and huge craters is part of what you see while walking the trail. The views from the cliffs are stunning so I would bring a camera and good walking shoes. We got to meet a WWII veteran from England that comes once... More

Pointe du Hoc is one of the more daring stories of the D-Day invasion. German guns atop the 100-foot cliffs had a clear view of both Utah and Omaha beaches. Three companies of U.S. Rangers were given the job of taking out the guns. They scaled the 100-ft cliffs under murderous German fire and took the Pointe, only to find... More

No D-Day tour would be complete without a stop at Point Du Hoc. I try not to write history lessons in my reviews, but what Col. Rudder and his men accomplished here was nothing short of incredible. The entire area is marked with huge bomb craters; my boys really enjoyed running up and out of these craters. There are several... More

The Pointe du Hoc is an impressive battlefield to behold: Craters from artillery and bombs litter the landscape as if it was attacked only a few years ago. Pieces of debris, some weighing tons and as big as a bus are strewn everywhere, a testament to the sheer violence of the battle here. Climbing onto one of the bunkers here... More
