A unique three-storey staircaise with hanging key-stone vaulting of a rare elegance takes up a third of the building. Formal gardens lead to landscape gardens embellished by an orangery. « less

More

After a lovely lunch at the Folia restaurant, we went on a guided visit to the Chateau to learn more about the history of France and the meaning of the term ¨la folie¨, the phrase used in our pamphlet, ¨Visitez la folie!¨ Our guide made the visit interesting by sharing information about the history of the Colbert family and their... My friend and I made our way on our own, by bus. The walk wasn't too long but we weren't exactly sure where we were going. The grounds are lovely, the house is incredible although it is more like faded grandeur. Wine tastings available too. Definitely worth it if you are in Montpellier. More

We were a large group of 48 wine students and staff from Brighton University in Sussex, England. We were warmly welcomed by Mme Jozwyk and then treated to a wonderfully informative and 'personal' tour of the Chateau by the current owners son, Pierre de Colbert. This cultural 'tour de force' was followed by a technical visit to the vineyard and... More

The minute I walked through the entrance to the courtyard of the Chateau, I wanted to live there. Madeleine, our tour guide, warmly greeted us and explained the schedule for the tour of the Chateau, the gardens, wine tasting and Restaurant Folia, for lunch. In addition to the welcoming accessibility of the owners, M. and Mme. de Colbert, Madeleine was... More

The gardens at Flaugergues are fascinating and charming, as are the people who work there. We really enjoyed the warm welcome that we received, and the guided tour around the chateau by Henri de Colbert himself! my favourite part i must admit was the wine tasting and being told about the wines, i'm no expert but it gave me an... A truly beautiful place- the castle is fab with some great history behind it, the owners are happy to come over and have a chat with you and are charming. The restaurant is modern and yet inkeeping with the decadence of the castle...theres a resaaurant there too in a really nice sun spot to sit in after a tour where... More
