The Basilca is a truly wonderful place and well worth the stiff climb from most directions. Despite the large numbers of visitors it was a perfect place to sit and refect, and listen to the beautiful singing which appraently goes on around the clock. Metro tickets also work on the funicular railway which is the way to go, but one... More

The atmosphere of peace and calm in this beautiful place is stunning. I could have sat and soaked it in all day. Whether you are spiritual or not this place can't fail to effect you. Outside the church the view over the city is amazing and its within walking distance of other great things to see in Montmartre.

Didn't like the area when we got off the tube, totaly different to the Champs Elysees. I would recommend the funicular railway if you're not very good with stairs. I liked the fact that it was free to enter.

Take the time to visit, a short metro hop and you'll have one of the best views of Paris for free. Located in Montmartre, near the Moulin Rouge, a little seedy but unique.

You see this place from anywhere in he city. Just amazing. When you get there all you want to do is leave. You are harassed by gangs and thugs selling religious Yarn bracelets. We saw so many tourist getting robbed. Embarrassed police don' t control this. Entire place felt unsafe. Use your metro ticket and go to the left to... More

The Sacrre-Coeur was breathtakingly beautiful. The murals and stained glass are stunning. We took the time to do the climb to the top of the dome giving you 360 degree view of Paris from this vantage point. The visit however was spoilt by the number of irritating street vendors and apparent hustlers attempting to engage with all the visitors. At... More

While the Sacred Heart Basilica is indeed beautiful, I would encourage folks to also visit the Church of St Pierre at Montmartre. This is the location where Ignatius Loyola and 6 of his colleagues founded the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits) in the mid-1500s. There were many fewer tourists there, with most of the individuals I saw being apparently more... More

The basilica is open from 6:00 am until 10:30 pm. As such, it is perfectly possible to visit in almost perfect solitude. If you do manage to visit at each end of the day, then you will be rewarded with a tranquil old town (much more like the 1960s feel that most people are hoping to achieve), perfect views over... Sit on the steps in front of the Basilica to enjoy a the sunset and a glorious view of Paris. The church itself is spectacular as well...beautiful mosaics. (Take the elevator at the Abbesses metro stop!)

It may seem like a trek out here but it is worth it. An amazing building with a lovely location on top of the hill. The inside of the church is nice. It not as impressive as Notre Dame but offers great views from the top and it is nice to relax on the church steps and enjoy the views.... More
