This is a former Palace and Prison where Marie-Antoinette and others stayed on their way to the guillotine. You can see her Courtyard, a re-creation of her cell and a Memorial to her and the King in the Chapel plus a room with all the names listed of those who were executed. The tutorial film/slides were helpful at the beginning...

We visited the Conciergie because it was covered by our Paris Museum Passes and was right next-door to Sainte-Chapelle, which we were going to visit anyways. Neither my husband nor I are history buffs, but it was neat to see the different types of prison cells. and the architecture of the building was nice, kind of gloomy and spooky. Overall,...

Really short tour of an historically significant building that housed Marie Antionette before she was executed.
The walk was pleasant and the structure nice but could not go inside and felt missed something special.

Marie Antoinette was held in a cell here for several months prior to her execution. Other famous prisoners, both political and criminal, also served time here, Despite the grim history, the Conciergerie has many beautiful features...

The conciergerie is quite interesting from the point of view it was the prison where Marie Antoinette was held prior to her execution, and also the 21 Girondins that were purged. Thousands passed through here on their way to the guillotine.
We chose to go as we had a museum pass, and as it was next door to Saint Chappelle...

We went to the Conciergerie because it was on our Museum Pass, and it looked interesting. It did not disappoint. It added to learning more about the history of Paris. It's within walking distance of Notre Dame and right next door to Saint Chappelle. This was the prison that Marie Antionette was held it, and you are able to see...
