The view from the chateau is the main draw, and it's definitely beautiful. Like some of the others we visited, though, the chateau itself is a pretty short tour that only goes through a small set of rooms, which are not filled with original furniture. Not one of my top picks.

Everyone has heard of FountaineBleau. Everyone has been to Versailles. But who knew that Chateau Amboise was also home to many of the Kings of France?
Chateau d'Amboise is in very good condition and well worth the trip. Prior to this trip, Chenanceau had been my favorite Chateau. For very different reasons, Amboise has at least matched it.

Very interesting. This was the first chateau of our visit. The view across the river is very nice. We saw 4 other chateaux in the Loire valley, and I liked them better. What I remember most about this chateau is walking down the spiraling Heurtault Tower.

This is a spectacular château of Renaissance style, with a long and troubled history. Although not the most impresive in the Loire Valley, Chateau d'amboise is well preserved and has stunning views on the Loire. definitely a must if you are in the area.

Unlike many chateau of the Loire this was a royal residence, so lots of historical connections, Da Vinci most prominently. The view is lovely, the town picturesque.
