Hogwarts. Even if you only have a spare half hour, you have got to pop in and have a look round. Gargoyles, incredible stone carved ceilings, fantastic stairwells oh and lots of books.30-60 minutes depending on your level of interest, but I can't see anyone from kids upwards not getting something out of it and it's free. More

Stunning collecton of manuscripts and books. Admission is free with a lovely cafe and friendly staff and can highly recommend the cream tea. Oh yes, the library! well worth seeing if visiting Manchester, the building is stunning there is an informative section about John Ryland and his wife and how the building came into being. Amazing building, would NOT recommend using the reading room, the tour guides CONSTANTLY do tours through it talking very loudly. Very distracting. This library is beautiful inside. The stonework carvings, pillars and ceilings are stunning. Interesting museum pieces to look at and thousands of books. Very enjoyable visit. More

John Ryland Library is a unique Manchester building - beautiful architecture inside and out. The archways inside the building are beautiful and the whole feel of the building is one of peace and tranquility. More

You cannot describe how beautiful this library is. It has now been totally restored to its original features and the interior is now breathtaking! More
