Tintern is on the road to the Hook Lighthouse and is well worth a visit. This beautiful Abbey was partially restored in recent years and the building inside is lovely. Outside the views around the unspoilt countryside are great. There is also a trail walk here in Tintern which takes you the short journey to the village of Saltmills. A... More

Loved the visit but unfortunately access to the abbey itself was denied as it was low season. It would have helped had there been an information leaflet, poster etc. available. The location was also a nature lover's paradise but there was no information or direction available for anybody interested in this topic. More

A mile from Saltmills, the entry point for the monks who first came upon this sacred site hundreds of years ago. This version of tintern was built as a promise for salvation from the winter storms and what a beautiful place it is, from the long drive down the abbey appears through the beech and oak woods. It is a... More

This building ruin has been restored to a very high standard with quality materials and quite obviously by highly skilled craftsmen. The history of the Abbey explained by our guide was equally impressive; he had an in depth knowledge and was able to answer the many searching questions asked by various members of the group. He brought the building to... More

Little bit hard to locate but an excellent find .The abbey was fascinating and the walks and wildlife were amazing including the derelict church and graveyard. Small entrance fee of 3 euro was very reasonable. More

The first stop on the Hook Head Safari, and it was absolutely lovely. Because we were on the safari we did not have the opportunity to tour the interior of the building, however many of the courtyards, as well as the trails and bridges were open to us. It was just enough time for my children to enjoy the site.... More

Lovely place for a walk in the woodlands by a river near the castle. Go in spring when the bluebells are blooming and bring a camera! More

We've visited Tintern Abbey and its lovely grounds when driving around county Wexford on May Bank Holiday weekend and were quite impressed, even though the abbey itself was not open for the season yet. According to the information at the entrance to it, the abbey opens to public around June 24th till mid-September only which is a real shame as... More
