we did expect the abbey facilities to be ope as it was bank holiday so were disappointed to find it locked shut. However, we were able, instead, to walk to the walled garden which is being renovated. Very pleasant.

Beautiful place with woodland walks, walled garden under restoration and the ruins of the actual abbey. Sadly, as the lady working at the walled gardens explained, the coffee shop and tours of the abbey were suspended due to a burglary and fire. Hopefully this will be reinstated for the summer season as I would say it would add to this...

This is a nicely preserved and well restored ruin of a monastery. The tour is good and you will get an appreciation of Tintern and its place in history.

We have enjoyed lovely walks there with the kids and the visitor centre is small but very good, easy to incorporate it into a trip around the Hook peninsula.
Very interesting site. Partly restored, beautifully kept. Very interesting and informative attendants on hand. Lovely grounds.
This was a peaceful and enjoyable visit. The restoration was just enough to allow you to explore the heights of the abbey in addition to walking through the rooms. Just behind the abbey are trails and a river to enjoy.
It's really just a shell, interesting to see and in a pretty setting, we stopped by while doing a driving route
