This is a good collection of Irish made items and handcrafts but not necessarily any better than a number of similar places elsewhere in Ireland - Blarney, Kenmare, Bunratty, etc. The quality and selection is good, but the prices are not necessarily a bargain. Rick Steve's reviewed this as a place to visit for Irish made items. It has a huge variety of Irish made items, however their prices are tremendously inflated. In Kenmare I purchased the same woolen blanket sold in the Design Center but it was 40 Euros less. Earings and pottery the same. Lovely items all in one place, just beware... More

A big THANK YOU! to all the girls in Kilkenny Design Centre who helped us pick the perfect Wedding Gift. I went into the Design Centre to buy a momento of our trip to Kilkenny. We were in the shop looking around when the calm was shattered by a bully shouting at a junior member of staff.
