As other reviewers have said it's just an alley, but it was fun to walk through when in the area. It's located by most of the other downtown shops so it's pretty easy to find.

Just a little side passage way, where Ripley's steakhouse is on. Worth going down when that restaurant is there!

This is a just a little lane way! Kilkenny is a medieval city, so it's not like Butter Slip is out of place of especially historic. All f Kilkenny is quite pretty and there are numerous interesting nooks and places to stroll.

I come from Canada where nothing is very old. Every time my husband and I visit Kilkenny we must walk through the Butter Slip. I can just imagine what life must have been like!...

A quirky alley in Kilkenny ,with some interesting shops. But at the end of the day, an alley is an alley!

I really don't know how this is on the things to do in Kilkenny, it is a lane way connection High street to another street. Granted its quite old and hosts a few different shops (of particular a sweet shop which I love) but there is another lane way another 100 meters up the road and that is not mentioned....
