The Room De Luxe, regarded by many as the "jewel in the crown" of Mackintosh's works features the original doors, mirrors and windows. The Tea Room takes its name from the street it is located on - "Sauchiehall" means alley of the Willows in Scottish Gaelic and the willow theme is featured throughout the building. « less

When I first heard about the Willow Tea Room I wasn't sure if it was actually a functioning tea room or a museum of Mackintosh design. In fact it it both, with delightful staff in a gorgeously-designed room with wonderful Mackintosh mirrors. We had coffee and cake there, although you can have lunch or tea as well. Such a shame... A bit on the expensive side, but well worth it. The portions are huge, and the atmosphere is just delightful. More

I visited Willow Tea rooms on Buchanan St,for first time on Fri 11 May. Very busy, people waiting for tables but i felt tables were very close together.Ordered afternoon tea,was ok,i've had better for cheaper price. After ordering my sandwhich of choice i was informed that you normally get a mixed selection but i did not like any of ones mentioned.... More

We are sorry to hear that your afternoon tea did not live up to your expectations. Traditionally afternoon tea sandwiches are a mixed selection but we are always more than willing to change if our guests do not like one or more of the fillings or have a specific dietary requirement. Our scones are delivered daily from our local baker... More

The high back chairs and art postcards aren't enough to make up for dry scones and stale atmosphere. Clearly geared towards tourists and not return customers. More

I am sorry to learn that you did not enjoy your visit to the Willow Tea Rooms. We use a local master baker who has won many awards for their scones and it is very unusual for us to get problems with them. I have passed on your comment as they are always keen to hear if something is not... More

I have booked many times online as this means you can sit in the fabulous Room de Luxe. This room is a fine example of Mackintosh's work and it is an absolute treat to sit in a high backed chair and watch the world go by outside. There is a great variety of loose leaf teas and there are daily... More

An expensive treat! Was disappointed at what they charge for tea and a scone. Think you are paying for the fancy chair you are sitting on. Nice to see, but not impressed More

We are disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your visit. We do check our prices regularly to make sure that they are competitive both against other similar venues and for what we offer. All our teas are loose-leaf, served in their own pots with additional hot water available. Each serving gives an average of 3 - 4 cups... More

My husband & I visited here for breakfast on a Monday morning in November 2011 when in Glasgow to do some Christmas shopping and we were most disappointed...the service was slow and poor despite the resturant being almost empty...I asked for my bacon to be well done & crispy, it arrived barely cooked and my scrambled eggs were watery and... Very disappinted to hear about your visit to the Willow Tea Rooms. Our staff are always asked to make sure they pay particular attention to any special requests, for example crispy bacon, and we have reminded them all again about this importance of listening to our visitors. Our food is cooked to order and therefore there should be no reason... More

This cafe above a Mackintosh-themed jewellery shop is attractively decorated and sells a nice range of Mackintosh souvenirs. However, it's really not worth staying for food! Soup, sandwich and a hot drink for £5.99 seemed like good value, but the quality was disappointing (very plain sandwiches with no garnish) and the service quite slow. Cakes didn't look particularly inspiring either.... More
