Excellent value, visitors exhibition, coffee shop & boat trip. Worth a couple of hours to visit and a short trip on the canal.

This is a tribute to British engineeering. Not only is it remarkably beautuiful but it is also extremely efficient. From memory of a talk I heard there, it takes the power of a light bulb to lift a fully laden barge 60 feet in the air, as it is counterbalanced by another barge coming down. The money to build it... If you haven't seen this wonderful feat of engineering, then you're missing out. A wonderful day's experience with lots to see and do. Good places for eats & drinks. Go see it now!!

Visited on a warm sunny day and took the ride on a boat from the lower canal, via the wheel, up to the higher canal. There was a short boat ride through a tunnel and then a return, via the wheel, back to the lower canal and disembarkation. The views from the top were stunning and the process of the... More

This is a device that lifts boats from a lower to a higher canal and verse visa. It is huge and very striking to see but there is very poor description of the whole process and noone really explains anything. If you pay to ride a boat thru the lift, I am sure it would be cool but we were... More

My husband is an engineer so he fancied seeing how this works. It is free to go into the centre and look around, and to watch the wheel in operation. It only costs money if you want to ride the boat up on it. We didn't take the boat trip as we were happy to get an afternoon out for... More

Decided to visit the Falkirk Wheel as we were in the area. It was a pleasant enough way to burn a couple of hours. The guide on board the boat was funny and kept the short ride up on the wheel, along the canal and back again, interesting and humourous. The price was what you would expect to pay for... More

What a magnificent attraction. The ride to the top with commentary by a guide was lovely, he had a great sense of humour and got the information over in a way that everyone could understand. The gift shop was well stocked and prices very reasonable. The cafe was ok but feel there could have been more selection. Recommend this to... More

We saw this attraction in the guide book and thought we would take a look. We were very impressed both by the Wheel and the shops/information centre there, which were well stocked, as well as the facilities. We didn't take a trip on the boat but just admired the wheel from the ground. I would definitely recommend this to anyone... More

We visited the Falkirk Wheel whilst on a tour of Scotland, on recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed. It was very good value for money. The commentary which is provided is both informative and interesting to people of all ages. There is plenty to do on site besides 'ride' on the wheel, so it definitely has something for all... More
