We called in here on our recent visit to Edinburgh to grab a quick bite whilst in the city.We wanted somewhere with decent food at cheap prices....not easy in the centre of a city!,but we were not disappointed. The building itself was beautiful inside and very very busy! However after trying all the "little" side rooms,we managed to track down a... More

i need to stress how hard we found a pub in Edinburgh who would accept an under 18 even though we were wanting to eat and it was lunch time! The idea of taking our visting guest from England to a Wetherspoons whist here didnt float my boat but we couldnt think of anywhere else and the little un was... More

A cavernous building with ante rooms formerly I believe the Union Bank of Scotland. An "A" grade building built in the neo classical style. Wetherspoons at its best. Always a great selection of beers at very reasonable prices.. Have eaten here many times before and never been dissapointed. Its not foodie eating but comfort food between pints. A pint of... More

Whilst I have experienced the other Wetherspoons on George Street we popped into this one again today. Reviewers are right about the building but not about food and service which was fine for us. Whilst the foodie will no doubt berate the meal of the day I had you shouldn't make any complaint in terms of quality and value for... More

I thought this place was excellent - the building is I believe an old Court House and is beautiful. The place was packed but we didnt have to wait long to get a decent table. Service was terrific, very friendly waiter and the food was good old standard British fare - just what we needed and wanted after a hard... More

The Standing Order is a huge pub run by the chain Wetherspoon's and is situated in the cetre of George Street. It is the ideal place to drop in to after a shopping spree in Princes Street or sightseeing galore. On Tuesdays there is a steak meal deal, on Thursdays it's curries. All meal deals come with a drink. Staff... More

We stopped in for lunch on a day of wandering about the New Town. The old bank is quite a beautiful space and it was filled with sunshine which made it very welcoming. Although it was busy we were able to find a table for four and our orders came out in a timely manner. The food was not crazy... More

Visited here twice recently once as part of family of four trip to festival and recently as part of a 'grown up' day trip of 5 adults. Lovely building with some great features. Always able to find a suitable table the various rooms high tables and booths allow you to choose your preferred seating location. Our family of 4 had... More

Popped in here on Sunday before going to see a show at the Festival, ordered a bottle of wine and 2 glasses, reasonably priced at £11.70 a bottle and the waiter took it from me and delivered it to our table. Would definately return. The Carvery looked lovely too and good value More

First came here about five years ago and thought it was lovely. Then again three years ago. Still nice. This time (29th and 30th), not so good. Only came here for breakfast around 9'ish so can't comment on beer, but many there could!! First day, hubby had Scottish breakfast which he said was quite nice, I had normal English breakfast...
