After rushing to catch the very last sailing of the year, we arrived in South Queensferry and the staff were friendly. We boarded the Maid and after a few minutes we set sail along the River Forth from under the Famous rail Bridge - which was looking terrific. We sailed along the river spotting some small islands, one of which... More

I've been on the Maid of the Forth before, but the only thing I remember is that it was blowing a gale, and so foggy we could only just see the boat - let alone the bridges! Taken by bus from central Edinburgh to the boat and then one and half hours trip along the Firth of Forth and back again, watching seals and wildlife. Fantastic live commentary pointing out places of interest and giving historical information all the time. Staff on the... More

This was one of the highlights of Edinburgh for me. Although you have to travel out a bit (I took a train about 3 stops, but the bus also works), this was totally worth it. Make sure you go on a nice day, and you will have plenty to do for an afternoon. The boat ride is nice and relaxing... More
