We visited on May 14, 2013. I found the attraction to be interesting and worth the visit but the tour guide to be disappointing. I don't know if he was having an off day or was near the end of his shift but Paul our tour guide had a very flat and uninspiring delivery. At the end of the tour... More

What a brilliant attraction. The guide we had was brilliant. Perfect combination of history and humour. I liked the digital sections of the tour. Seeing the size of the 'closes' and hearing the description of how people lived really makes you appreciate modern life!

Mary King's Close gives you a really real taste of how things where in those days, without becomming too depressing. Do take the tour! Also: do book in advance if you got the chance or expect you have to wait a bit longer then expected. But if so: they serve really good tea & coffee outside as well, at a... More

We choose this attraction because the weather was so bad .We bought our tickets and had to return an hour later. I would say that the group of twenty was a bit too large and at times cramped, the tour lacked the 'wow factor' but was interesting if you wondered what the hidden Edinburgh was like. Expensive and didn't miss... More

The Real Mary King's Close is a social history tour, taking visitors underground to a once busy, bustling 17th Century 'Close'. The Close and surrounding rooms remain in the state they were re-discovered and our tour guides tell stories based on real people who lived, worked and died on the Close. Thank you for taking the time to visit us. More

For a reasonable entry fee (we booked the day before) youget a well thought out and executed tour of "forgotten" streets underneath the Royal Exchange. Brilliant guides, informative and entertaining.

Very well done. The guide had a brilliant dry Scottish sense of humour and the tour gave an amazing insight to life in Old Town Edinburgh.

I strongly advise booking in advance via the internet because this is a very popular tourist attraction. What made it for me was the guide. Usually if someone is in "period dress" I get a fit of the giggles but this guy really knew his stuff and kept us entertained throughout. The tour gives a fantastic insight into what life... More

If you like weird places, dark and spooky, you must visit Mary King's Close. Not recommended for claustrophobic people! The tour presents a very dark side of Edinburgh's history and it is definetly worth visiting.

For £12.95 per adult you get an hour guided tour of the old streets below Edinburgh by a very knowledgeable guide. Yes they are 'dressed the part' but aside from that you do get a history of the place as well. Like others have said this is not for those who are less mobile due to the uneven surfaces/stepd and... First of all, it is dark and a tight squeeze in most places. It is very musty so be warned if you have problems with that. What I really liked about it was seeing the actual tiny rooms where whole families lived. There was a lot of history about the old Edinburgh before the new city was built right on... More
