Went here after getting a tip from a Brit in Venice about it and was pleasantly surprised. The music was great, we had no problem having delightful conversations with several locals and the drinks were reasonably priced. Had a nice evening here and would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh! More

Cozy, across the street from the University. Singers perform any time, pints flow, the fireplace is warm. Such a sweet good time. More

If you like spontaneous acoustic music, this is the place to go at night in Edinburgh. Much depends on the resident singer for the evening and which other musicians pop in around midnight, but the crowded wee square space and the anything goes attitude to musical contributions creates many memorable magical moments. A good place for a few bevvies if... More

Went for a play here as was told it was a good place for music. Completely unwelcoming, and full of hostile locals....go to sandy bells instead..... More

Very small pub that is not to miss...very friendly and welcoming...folk singers in the evening are a blast and atmosphere is great! Nothing fancy but good beer, good selection of scotch, friendly people and lots of laughs...Just know that it's tight quarters so go only if you like crowds! Highly recommended. More

This is an excellent pub - good sized bar - very friendly staff and regulars. Also a great bar for folk music - check their website regularly for who is playing - particularly during the Festival. If you don't drink but love music - go there. If you don't like music but love the drink - go there. If you... More
