I had to laugh when I read some of the other reviews here for the Beehive.. It is a nice pub, in a good location with a handy beer garden but my jaw dropped when I had the misfortune of meeting, as previously described, "a nasty, shrewish beast of a woman named Norma" a so called manager - watching her... Came here with a group of tourists for a specialist whisky tasting. However, despite the tour agent having an email to confirm permission for a local whisky specialist to bring in 3 bottles of single cask malt, the manager and staff on duty refused permission on the night as the alcohol was 'not being bought on the premises'. This was... More

Well! After discovering the place had a nice beer garden we were inclined to visit, as Edinburgh severely lacks such places and sitting in the street is not the best situation when trying to relax. However, we didn't even get in the door before the disgusting female manager (blonde short hair) ID'd myself and my friend, actually putting her arm... More

This wouldn't be a bad pub if it sacked the manager's wife, a nasty, shrewish beast of a woman named Norma. We unfortunately had business which took us to this pub several times, and each time Stormin' Norma was on a rant, seemingly making up different aribitrary pub "rules" for each day of the week, and forcing customers to abide... Terrible. A stinker of a venue in an otherwise very pleasant fun of great pubs and restaurants during our stay in Edinburgh. We waited for over an hour for sanwiches and jacket potatoes that arrive cold and pretty grim looking. We weren't expecting haute cuisine here, but the food was dire. The service was also terrible and the staff rude.... More

we visited this pub with our two children aged 14 and 7. which looked really nice and inviting as it had a beer garden and it was a nice day. we strolled in and walked a few feet along a passage and was shouted at by one of the staff who wanted to "know what we wanted". we stated that... More

At closing time, the bar manager took it upon herself to physically pull drinks out of people's hands, spilling wine everywhere. The bar staff kept serving drinks which the manager then proceed to take away from people minutes later, as she cleared the pub. The whole exercise was done with the charm of a prison officer. Drinks prices varied depending... More

Really enjoyed the beer garden - don't seem to be many of these in Edinburgh and with the Castle looming over you definitely a photo opportunity place. Food was great, especially the fish cakes and surprised by how good the wine list was - so much to choose from, compared to other Edinburgh pubs. The garden was also table service... More

Just visited this place with my family last week. Worst bar/restaurant I have ever been to in my life. After the bartender told us we were not allowed to order food in the pub (while other people were continuing to order food all around us) we were forced to go to the upstairs for a bite to eat. The waitress... More
