It is considered to be an Adam masterpiece and is one of the most important buildings in the North. The foundation stone was laid on the 11th June 1735 and the building was finished five years later, although it took over 100 years to complete the interior. Duff House is a jewel set in a stunning triangle of coast, river and parkland. There is a tea room and shop on ground-floor level, as well as temporary exhibitions by visiting artists and societies. « less

Tearoom was superb with pleasant surroundings and good food. didnt have a camera with me so didnt get any pictures, but wont make that mistake next time.

Tea room revamped (has it lost its character?? The lady who served us was wonderfully helpful and polite); house as marvellous as ever, but one of the guides seemed more interested in his rugby match than helping us!!

Family came to stay with us so we went here for a days outing. Only thing that spoilt it was the showers as there was an excellent play park outside for children and grounds to walk around which we missed. Enjoyed the marvelous grounds of Duff House before making our way inside the beautiful old house. We enjoyed our visit at the recently updated cafe, having a mavelous soup and coffee and a very nice cake for dessert. Staff were attentive, helpful, and very friendly. Fortified, we made our way to the gift shop to purchase our tickets, then watched... More
