The sheer eye popping opulence of the castle apartments just has to be seen. The guided tour alone was worth the price of entry as we were entertained by an extremely good guide and also saw some of the rooms that are not open to the public on a self guided visit. The grounds are huge and a great place... More

I really enjoyed exploring the castle. I took a gazillion photos. The intricate detail and themes for each room are seriously impressive. I was also intrigued and now think its brilliant that the castle was left to the people of Cardiff, so that it never gets sold. More

The recent improvements to Cardiff Castle have made it more visitor friendly. As you get a 12 month pass it is likely you will want to go back (we did!). The combination of 1000+ years of history, the amazing interiors and friendly staff all make the visit worthwhile. If you have time ask to see the chapel - it is... More

An interesting castle, including the old keep. Nice grounds. The last private owner owned coal mines and I was struck with the difference between his life style and that of his workers. More

The first time I visited the keep was closed, much to my disappointment. This time it was open and I loved having a look around, plus the views were wonderful. I love my history and would go and see it again. More

The castle is well worth a visit, especially when it has just opened and is nice and quiet. More

There are at least 3 very distinct experiences to be had at this site; one or more may suit your needs or interests. First you get to see how part of the castle was used as a shelter during the air raids of WW2. This is an exciting, slightly scary experience. The guides really make it come alive. The very... More
