Salisbury has the tallest spire in England. I saw it from miles away as my bus drove toward the city. The cathedral and grounds cover a large area, and there is a map on the walkway toward the cathedral with clear directions of the grounds, the cathedral, and the surrounding buildings (among which is the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum).... We saw the cathedral both inside and outside. It has strong family links to my mother and myself. We saw it again at night, when it was floodlit. Very beautiful.

The cathedral has the tallest spire in England and is well worth a visit to Salisbury, and Stonehenge is very close by. You catch a bus at the train station for the tour [look under Stonehenge Tour on line].

We visit Salisbury quite a lot as we have relatives living in the town. However, we have never visited the cathedral before. Last Tuesday we rectified this. The building is beautiful and there is an art exhibition on currently with sculptures both inside and outside the cathedral itself. We parked in the cathedral car park as it only cost £6.00... More

Enjoyed our visit very much. Found the cloisters to be so peaceful. The history was very interesting and a must if you are in the area

But what a lovely cathedral and grounds. I would recommend that you take the free guided tour as you'll learn a lot more then just by going around yourself. Our tour guide certainly knew his stuff but you need to be willing to lose at least an hour and a half
