This was my second visit to this lovely gallery. I went to see the exhibiton Into the light: French and British painting from Impressionism to the early 1920s. Some lovely paintings but particularly enjoyed my introduction to Eugene Boudin. Delicate but powerfully atmospheric paintings. Well worth the long journey from the North West to get there. More

The approach to Compton Verney, between Stratford-on-Avon and Kineton in Warwickshire was jaw-dropping. We walked through Capability Brown parkland dotted with cedars over a little bridge to reach the gracious house, reflected in the lake. Compton Verney has been sympathetically transformed into an art gallery and it is currently hosting two exhibitions - Gainsborough landscapes and 'Into the light' which... More

About six miles from Stratford on Avon, this splendid house! Dating from the 15th century, merits a visit, even amongst the many attractions of Shakespeare's famous birthplace. Now restored after many years of neglect, the house and it's Capability Brown lakes and gardens make a powerful impression. The Adams room with its amazing plaster ceilings and porticos is a highlight.... More

We stopped here travelling back to Kent from North Wales and I wish we had had longer to visit! The grounds are stunning, and the first glimpse of the house from the main road took my breath away. We didn't manage to visit all the galleries, or walk all the way around the lake but even so we completely filled... More

We go about twice a year, and always enjoy the exhibitions and find the staff cheerful and helpful. Although the cafe menu is small, the cooking is good and the food delicious. Spotless toilets too. More

A nice way to spend an afternoon - check beforehand what exhibitions are on - we saw the Quentin Blake cartoonist one while we were there & it was superb There are plenty of grounds to explore (but rather cold when we went) Not a cheap day out for a whole family though.. More

This was our first visit and we found the staff helpful and welcoming. We very much enjoyed the Stanley Spencer exhibition and the Capability Brown was an extra bonus. Lunch was good. We had a lovely sunny day - how lucky - so were able to walk round the park afterwards. We plan to return soon. More

I really like Compton Verney - it is an interesting art gallery with some nice collections. A good series of changing exhibitions, the ground are lovely, and a nice cafe and book shop. It is important that visitors are aware that it is a rather fine art gallery that happens to be in a beautiful country house; there is no... More

The inside of the house/building has been converted into an Art Gallery - where several exhibitions are taking place. There is plenty to see inside. We visited on 25 August, 2011 - fortunately the weather was perfect - as you have a distance to walk from the Car Park to the house and back again - interesting grounds and lovely... More
