The ballat was great but the night was spoilt by members of the audience around us eating all the way through the performance , I recently attended a west end show and before the performance started they made an anouncement asking people to refrain from rustelling papers etc , I would suggest the Theatre Royal do the same ! If you're tall you'll be ok. Small like I am and a lot of my friends are then you could be in for a very uncomfortable night. The new seats are wood with only slight padding in the middle so if you're feet don't touch the floor then the circulation is in for a rough ride as the edge cuts... More

Went to see Derren Brown here last week and I'd really recommend the theatre for this kind of performance. The auditorium is really attractive and comfortable. I'm not sure about visibility in the galleries, but in the stalls it was excellent. The bar upstairs is nice and has a good range of drinks including some more unusual foreign beers, although... But depends what you go to see...obviously! As a venue, it is fantastic. It has been redone very recently and looks gorgeous. Always worth paying a bit extra for the Stalls or Grand Circle though, in my opinion. More

I love the building which is really beautiful and such a 'classic' theatre and large stage. The seating is well tiered and comfortable, and for the couple of productions I've seen, the ticket prices were very reasonable (Madness of King George and Sleeping Beauty, ballet). The adjoining bar has got good character and nice place to sit down in the... More

I love going to the theatre, so the opportunity to photograph the restoration process 'behind the scenes' was one I couldn't pass up. You can see the photos on my Flickr page at www.flickr.com/photos/gibbo_rory1/ the end result is a beautiful, warm, restored yet modern theatre which is a credit to Newcastle. More

Visited Theatre Royal for the first time since it's refurbishment to see Henry V. What a great night out! An amazing performance in a stunning setting. Staff lovely too. And to top it all, Prosecco by the glass! More

The theatre royal has just been refurbished. It really is beautiful. A wide selection of shows from comedy to world class musicals. Most recently we saw the susan Boyle musical, where Susan appeared herself ! Great seats, plenty of legroom and of course the pantomime each year is hilarious! More
