It demonstrates how classical design influenced the buildings and illustrates the construction of a house from the cellars to the rafters. Based in the Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, the building is also home to the Bath Model, a fully detailed architectural model of the historic city centre, giving a unique insight into the layout of the Georgian City. « less

Bath has a rich collection of museums explaining and displaying the background of its development and this concentrates not just on its architecture but also the construction and equiping of its Georgian buildings. It may be a little specialist but there is much for the generally interested visitor. Personally, I was intrigued to learn of the rather odd views underlying... More

Not enough to entertain for too long - and how disappointing that the Chapel the collection is housed in isn't made more of. Very friendly volunteer staff though More

This museum has a small but extremely high quality collection that gives an excellent overview of the city of Bath. The model of the entire city is great for orientation. The collection explains in great detail the way in which the buildings of Bath are constructed and the development of the city. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and happy to... More

This museum only cost £4 and is well worth the admission price. There is a short video to watch that lasts 20 mins and then a series of displays that show you further information about the buildings in Bath More

Lots of information on the building of Bath, so mostly about 18th century stones. Housed in a lovely old chapel, it has a model of the city. Check opening times - closes for the winter. More

I did't know much about Bath and this museum did a splendid job of teaching me a bit of her history. There are artifacts from past times from the city, old photos of the city with descriptions, and other artifacts recalling the time when the baths were discovered. More

There are many better-known museums in Bath and this one is very slightly off the beaten track, but is well worth a quick detour en-route to the Assembly rooms, the Circus and the Royal Crescent. Housed in the Countess of Huntingdon's Chapel, a wonderful building in it's own right, this collection will tell you everything you could possibly need to... More

We had walked round the Circus and the Crecent before visiting this amazing little museum with the video that has you seeing Bath quite differently. When you come out you look for candle snuffers on the walls and boot scrapers on the causeways and count the window pains to see who had their windows lowered - absolutely brilliant More
