Good Northern architecture. It is worth going inside to explore. It was finished in 1897. The antechamber to the council chamber has the words 'Be ye wise as serpents and harmless as doves' above the door. David Blunkett used to be the council leader so I'm afraid that advice has not always been followed.

Posh, proud, perfect venue. Watched Ricky Gervais and the atmosphere was fab. Central with lots of food and drink places close by.

If you live in Sheffield your rates help to maintain this building so at least visit it! Check when there are 'Open days' (usually on Saturdays/ Sundays/Bank Holidays) so you can have a guided visit. It has grand marble staircases and oil paintings of former Mayors in their gowns and 'gold chains'.

Brilliant rooms, beautiful staircase, catering, flexible and good value. Could not have wanted for more. This was hiring the main building, not registry office.

we were married here and found the whole experience a joy , the staff are very calming and treat you with respect with no rushing you away , as you would expect on a busy saturday . the hall is still a very grand place and the rooms are very clean
