Well set out - I didn't manage to see all of it as there is so much there. Obviously good for children ( there were a large number of school parties while we were there.

In a great and historic building, opened in 1860, this is a wonderful natural history museum. Of course it is just a fraction of the size of the London NHM, but the best UK natural history museum outside London. The vertebrate and invertebrate displays have all be revamped in the last few years, so expect up-to-date information and clear labels...

It's better than the Pitts River Museum that it's attached to, having decent lighting and space. Still the same dinosaurs creaking around coughing to themselves. Both museums appear to have raided the local old people's home for staff. I'm not sure I'd return, maybe on a wet day with nothing else to do if I was in the area. They...

I visited on a very wet bank holiday Monday and the museum was very busy. There is plenty to see and the splendid architecture alone is worth a visit.
There is no café but there are plenty in Oxford. There is no space inside to eat packed lunches except in the small entrance to the museum. This was very crowded...

Dont expect this to compare to the London one, but it's in a great building and has some interesting things. And you have to walk through it to reach the Pitt Rivers.

Have been many, many times! A free day out, stunning dinosaur bones, great kids activities.

I stumbled upon this museum while visiting Oxford for the day and absolutely loved it! My favorite place in the museum was the lower level where they just have rows tables with glass cases on them. It was very informal in a way that I found refreshing compared to the very controlled environment of most museums. They have a collection...

This museum has a lot of the attractions that the London Museum of Natural History offers, but is quieter and smaller. Much easier for smaller children, whose attention spans and stamina are less than their older siblings. But plenty to attract an older child or an adult too. Dinosaur and other skeletons, butterflies, spiders, stuffed crocodiles and a small stuffed...

Well worth a visit, and you can continue through to Pitt Rivers

I live in Oxford and have visited this museum now a few times (with my 4 year old) and he finds it to always be a great experience. Not only does the museum have all of the staple features of what you'd expect from a museum on natural history, but it also has a number of live exhibits too! Including...
