We went via Billy Shiels Boat trip to the Farne Islands (great boat journey looking at all the Farne Islands before landing on Inner Farne), and there is a landing fee (payable to National Trust). The rangers are so very friendly and happy to answer any of your questions. There is an open area with examples of the birds you... More

We went up specifically to see puffins and were not disappointed. Stopped at St Aidens hotel, great and went out on Billy Sheil boat. Very good commentary and smooth ride fortunately. Bird and seal life was staggering. You can get so close to view the birds. Landed on the island for one hour but could of happily stayed for three.... More

We travelled to Inner Farne via a Billy Shiel's Inner Farne tour on a cold, blustery afternoon in early May. We were dropped off with one hour to enjoy the island. The scenery is beautiful. Immediately above the jetty there is a small visitors centre with some information boards about the history of the island, and about the birds you... More

Loved out trip over to the Farne's. Billy Shiels and his crew did us proud. Great close up view of birds. We got close - we could smell!! National Trust Rangers amazing - but those poor guys shower just once a week on the mainland. May be they want to be like the birds.... ??Definitely worth a trip, you won't... More

We travelled as a family group of 3 adults, and although the Islands were not yet open for landing ( 1st April onwards) we found the seal trip was really worth while. There was a commentary pointing out all the bird species and where they were and other points of interest and lots of information about the islands themselves, the... More

Stayed at the Langholme cottage Warkworth, beautiful. Walked the coast and fell in love with Banburgh castle...so stunning. Miles of sandy beaches, great trip to the Farne islands, best fish and chips ever...and I could go on. Going back as soon as I can because I am in love with the place. More

The Farne Islands are a group of islands off the northumbrian coast. accessible by boat from Seahouses. The arrival of the puffins in late april and the weather make june the best month to vist. trips include just sailing around the islands, landing for an hour or an all-day trip for photographers.
