While on a recent trip to London, we stayed in Earl's Court... very close to the Brompton Cemetery. Although I'd lived in London for several years prior, I'd never made it to this beautiful place. The cemetery was lovely for going for walks with my husband and infant son... very quiet and peaceful in the centre of town. I highly... More

A two hour tour of Brompton Cemetery for £5 by a very knowledgable volunteer guide who explains about some of the different people buried there, whether sporting heroes of yesteryear, actors from the 1930s, military generals etc. Emmeline Pankhurst has to be the highlight, take flowers as a thank you if you are a women!! A nice sedate wander around... More

Brompton is one of the "Magnificent Seven" London cemeteries. It is a 3 minute walk from the Earl's Court tube station. Well worth a visit if you like cemeteries! More

Some of the cemeteries charge for public access, but this one is free to wander through this one. It is a popular spot for many filmmakers (Sherlock Holmes 2009, Eastern promise...). It is one of London’s oldest cemeteries. The headstones date from approx. 1840 to 1920. Some of the headstones are truly works of art. So if you like taking... More

When I told my spouse and son "we're going to a cemetery today", their eyes grew wide, followed by the inevitable "Why???" I replied, "Sherloch Holmes and Johnny English filmed there," Took about 30 seconds before my 18-year-old son grudgingly said "okay". We have an understanding: he's the navigator, my spouse pays, while I mark the spot:) Once my son... More

As odd as I thought that was I decided to give it a whirl. What a treat. This Victorian era cemetery is this areas version of a park. There are joggers, dog walkers and lots of... More
