called in primarily to go to the underground cafe/restaurant (accessible by lift) and then heard music playing and wandered into the church - looked like a lot of tourists had done the same thing. Listened to fascinating classical music rehearsal for free. Also got interesting wooden sculptures of people - touring exhibition so only there temporarily More

Head to the crypt for an amazing and budget lunch with a gift store as well. While you are there, buy tickets to see a concert at night and you will not be disappointed. More

My father was organist in the late 60s and 70s so have fond memories, and when I am in London I always pop in. They offer lunchtime concerts, have a good crypt cafe, and the church itself is worth a look. Not spectacular but a calm environment away from the hustle and bustle outside. More

We bring our visitors here as it seems to "tick alot of boxes" on their vacation list: A reasonably priced lunch with atmosphere, a gift shop for quick souvenirs, check out the music schedule for returing later in the day or week, and picking up a Free London Walks brochure (of course!), and a look at brass rubbing too! lovely!... Now the church has been fully restored, it is truly beautiful. The extra space below -- for restaurant, gift shop, etc -- are good. The music here is usually fairly predictable, but the acoustics are fantastic, and the Academy of St Martin's is excellent. What I love as a Londoner is that they consider the poor and homeless as their... More

The highlight of my week in London was an evening ("candle light") concert here of Handel's Messiah. We took the cheap seats in the balcony with no view -- a bargain -- but it was fine, every seat has perfect acoustics. Every concert here is a one of a kind experience, not to be missed.
