It took me awhile to even find this gallery the first time I visited, granted it is on the Southbank but rather hidden behind the Royal Festival and Queen Elizabeth Halls. I have seen three exhibits there and always come away thinking of art in a different way, starting with Tracey Emin and ending with the Deller and Shrigey exhibit.... More

Excellent exhibition - well curated. Particularly glad I saw the TV special on Deller before seeing the exhibition as it gave me a good perspective on his work. Shrigley - funny and dark. More

Deterred by the lengthy early morning queues for Hockney at the RA we delayed and spent two or three hours over here looking at these two first rate exhibitions. Always like the Hayward. Friendly, efficient, not expensive and easy to get to. We did Shrigley first. Ever item at least a chuckle and some very perceptive and nudging you to... More

A really fun exhibition overall but quite serious as in (what was for me) the highlight of the exhibition: the film of the Battle of Orgreave, JD's recreation of the miners/police conflict in the 80's. This was done in 2001 but was the first time I'd seen it,really moving and passionate. The more recent piece Exodus , 2012 of bats... More

This museum was an (unexpected) highlight of my trip. First, it is a bit off the beaten path. Second, it wasn't highly attended. And finally, the exhibitions were a bit obscure. And all delectable at the very same time! After walking the city for many hours, I came to a fairly bland architectural structure, which is the Hayward Gallery only... More

I like exhibitions of contemporary art, and this venue offers shows of both national and international artists. It has a fairly good bookshop for contemporary art that highlights books related to the exhibition. It is best to make sure what exhibition is on and only go if it is of interest to you. More

Holy crap is this gallery cool. I went to a recent show which had a lot of hands on/body on "art'. They had boats on the roof, a balloon on the city and a room with holes in the walls. Weird yes but totally cool. It's more for the modern art crowd but kids would probably like it also. More
