I went there with a small group of friends and I didn't know what to expect because of the varied reviews! My main concern was that they might not let us in. This was only because of some other reviews which said they did not let straight people in (we were all female, mostly heterosexual). We walked up to the... More

We waited in a row outside the bar for 2 hours... security staff very unfriendly and snotty. They preferred people to let in by chance. Candy Bar was recommended to us for the London scene so we hold out. Which was a really bad decision! Should have switch to an other location.. As we finally got into the bar it... More

I used to live in London (2003-2004), and remember having a great time here when I went with my girlfriend at the time. When I went back to visit this past August, I asked my two gay friends if we could go for a couple of drinks, just to see how it is now. What a mistake. We stood in... More

Very unfriendly bar. Went last night (Saturday) myself (gay man) and my best lesbian friend. Where made to wait behind a group of 12 straights. Then we were told 3 times that there were too many men already in there so i wouldn't be allowed in. Other lesbians were allowed in (members i assume) until my friend asked point blank... More

Visited The Candy Bar on Tuesday August 4. Had to ask for a cocktail menu, which when received, was wet and stained. I ordered a Margarita, my partner a Long Island Tea. Margarita was ok, but lacked ice and presentation. Long Island Tea had not been mixed properly. (£6.50 each). By the time we had finished these drinks there were... More

The night could have been perfect, until it was spoiled by members of staff in Candy Bar. Friends and I bought lots of drinks downstairs and partied away. Had shots after shots and champagne and beer then on our way out, I asked the barmaid for some water and told her I felt dehydrated, my mouth and throat was so... More

I have been to lesbian bars all over the world and this is by far the worst. I would have expected as much in a fascist country. The place is under new management and most of the clientel is complaining. Candy Bar used to be packed on Saturday nights, now it is half empty. I went last weekend to give... More
