The British conquered and/or plundered nearly all the world, and their greatest treasures reside at the British Museum. Plan a day here and you will not be disappointed. AND, the admission is free, although they admittedly ask for donations. More

My wife and I have visited many of the world's great museums. Of all of them, the British Museum, open most of days the year, is absolutely free of charge to enter, unlike most of the others, is by orders of magnitude the best. And of all the exhibits, the Elgin Marbles are the centre piece, that wonderfully presented selection... More

I really liked seeing things which I had seen in photographs. There were some amazing items and the museum would be somewhere most children as well as adults would find interesting. There are mummified cats and crocodiles as well as bodies, caskets and accompanying artifacts the Egyptians took with them for the afterlife! Some of the very large statues are... More

Years since I visited, this reminded me how a museum can show an enormous range and inform you of their history More

Take the kids there for an extremely cheap day out. Subsided by the National Lottery now so no entrance fee. Cheap, educational and extremely helpful staff. Parking may be a slight problem as two hours limitations meant we have to rush our visits. More

The British museum in London is a great place to have a look into the past. Well, some of the exhibits I knew from books and so it was good to see some things first-hand. Whatever amount of time you have available, from just one hour to the whole day, you can have a worthwhile visit to the museum. The... More

What a great museum. Wonderful displays of an assortment of works that feed the senses. The museum was packed with something for everyone and was very busy with school break families, but with the size of the building and rooms it was not uncomfortable. Loved it, would go again & again. More
