Very snug! The house was interesting to look around and had a few possessions from the Wordsworth family. Sadly we didn't have time for the guided tour but we were given a information sheet explaining each room. It works well with the Wordsworth Museum which has a lot more items and examples of WW's work. More

A pierce of history well preserved; makes you realise why Wordsworth liked daffodils. More

Worth a visit on a rainy day. It is interesting to imagine daily life here in this little cottage although I would rate Rydal Mount higher and would choose that over Dove Cottage if only one former Wordsworth home is being visited. It is worth going on one of the guided tours of Dove Cottage rather than a self-guided tour... More

It's the enthusiasm of the guides which makes a visit to this tiny cottage such a pleasure: the cottage itself is beautifully presented, and the museum so full of information and fascinating objects that you''l need more time than you think to do it justice. More

The house actually belonged to de Quincy (of Opium Eater fame) for far longer than Wordsworth! There's little furniture of WW's but some possessions - the house is more interesting just as an example of its era. You can no longer see the views he had. The guide was excellent bringing to life what little there was. Dorothy Wordsworth's diaries... More

I enjoyed the tour of Dove Cottage. It was a very hot Saturday afternoon and my husband and myself were the only 2 people on the tour. The guide was very informative. It was a shame that you couldn't take photos. Well worth a visit. More

Arriving at Dove Cottage we bought tickets and were able to get in on the 10:00 am guided tour which had just started. William Wordsworth lived in Dove Cottage at the entrance to Grasmere from December 1799 until 1808 when he purchased the nicer home at Rydal Hill. These were years when Wordsworth wrote much of his best poetry but... More
