Fascinating insight into the history of Rye and the south east of England. Loved the special section on pirates and bootlegging gangs. Spooky and magical but watch the trip stairs!

Definitely worth a visit. Not only do you get to go inside a small castle (a big tower, really), but the displays are surprisingly high-quality for such a small place. You won't spend hours there, but you'll enjoy the visit.

Expected a bit more of this place, which is interesting insofar as it goes, but doesn't really live up to expectations. 30 minutes worth maximum really.

If you are in Rye it is certainly worth visiting the Ypres Tower. It is small but the exhibits are well presented and my children really enjoyed the weapons and helmets downstairs and didn't once complain of boredom. The 'stillroom' also proved a hit. Thank you to the volunteers who staff it.

As beautiful as the Castle is, it took all but about 10 minutes to entirely appreciate the limited internal history and decorations it has to offer. There is, however, a room blow ground level that offers some entertainment by way of trying on various headgear. You'd be better off saving your money and having a good walk round the outside... pretty impressive building - museum itself nice....but thought entry price was a bit much for what it was...

Although snapping a couple of good pictures of the tower from outside is worth the time if you are already in Rye, I wouldn't spend the three pounds to go in.
