Visited for mid-week lunch after being really impressed by their marketing on facebook. Getting there was a bit of a strange experience, you have to enter via museum reception, where you must get a ticket, but entry is free. Travelled up in the lift to find a nice open space but not furnished to the standard I had in my... More

Free to Art Fund members. The house and gallery (purpose built, victorian) is packed with art and artefacts brought back from travels around the globe. At present there are external repairs being undertaken. Shop and excellent cafe/restaurant, toilets, lockers.

the homemade quiche is worth going there for, a quiet place, limited selection but good food. A room with a view.

Excellent museum being Russell-Cotes home on East Cliff. Wonderful building, paintings, sculptures. Really enjoyed and a visit to the cafe is recommended for friendly, efficient staff and tasty home made food.

This house is worth a look, ( a second look for us). It is very baroque, every inch of it is decorated and it has a gallery at the end of the tour. Used to be free, based on donations, now costs £5:00 entry.

This museum is very unusual and I have visited this wonderful place many many times. Each time finding something different that I have not seen before. There is always different temporary exhibits, and workshops that can be great fun. The museum also has very peaceful gardens and the location on the cliff tops is fantastic, it is a favourite place... More

This museum was unknown to us - came across it by chance - and we were so pleased to have found it. We only had one hour to spend but needed three. It was full of wonderful art and sculptures and interesting background to the house and its previous owners. The on site restaurant was very good with home made... More

This is such a wonderful example of Victorian architecture and represents the culture of the time, with a little italian style grotto and details inspired by their travels, this is a wonderful folly and what the victorians did best! Evokes an era of when the world was a large, exciting and unexplored place!

This museum is in a grand individual victorian house built by Sir Russell Cotes for his wife. Some of the rooms are furnished as original, with amazing decor, furniture and extravagant china and artefacts. There are galleries of fantastic paintings, many by women artists, and several in the pre-raphelite era. Also sculptures. The pictures have very good descriptive cards explaining the... More
