This used to be a gem but over the years of massive under-investment by our Council, they have finaly decided to sell it all off. It is now part of a vision which will see massive investment into the harbourside, but I doubt any locals other than those on the Council will see any benefit from the end result.

This is a really lovely old building which has never been used tto its full potential. But it is a real shame to hear it will be closing in the New Year. Torbay Council really need to ensure this site is developed before it becomes a derelict eyesore which is right on the harbour side in Torquay. The Palm Court... More

Sadly the Pavilion, which was built as a place to be seen in during the heyday of Torquay's past glory years, will be closing in early January 2013 and no one seems to know how or even if it will be redeveloped.

I went into this building thinking it had many shops in it wrong. It was like being at a jumble sale. Only saving grace was the exhibition about Torquay in the past. Told through Postcards, letters, photos etc

Head upstairs and if the weather is fine grab a table on the balcony overlooking the harbour and then tuck in to some magnificent tapas. Great olive dish. Fantastic prawns (harrissa sauce), Stuffed peppers and rustic breads. Very good coffee or local ales to wash it all down. Time seems to float away, very relaxing.

Whilst staying in Torquay, we had a look inside the Pavilion. It was more or less empty, apart from a couple of little units, and an interesting display about the history of the building. Bought some lovely little presents to take home. Didn't visit the cafe upstairs, but it looked it's quite popular. Noticed a artist by the entrance, doing... More

Having lived in Torquay from the mid '60s I remember the Pavilion as a thriving theatre, I went to my first Rock concert there, later it was a skating facility and now it's an indoor market...trouble is that many of the units are empty.......so sad.. ATB,J.

Sad to see so many closed and empty units in the Pavilions. 20 years ago it was a thriving shopping mall. Pleased to see that the lavender specialist shop still in existence.
